Alex started his professional guiding career in 2005. After moving from his home town of St Louis MO and settling down in Colorado, Alex quickly became obsessed with hiking and exploring the many mountainous regions of his new home state. While spending many hours in the backcountry Alex started to realize that he needed to find even more reasons and activities to keep him occupied while out in the wilderness. This is when he discovered fly fishing. Who knew that this would set his life on a new and unforeseen path.
It did not take long for Fly fishing to become his obsession. He soon moved from the front range to the heart of the Rocky Mountains, got a job at a fly shop and started to hone his skills and knowledge of the sport. During the following years, Alex started taking people fishing, then began to learn to row a fishing boat and continued to expand his expertise.
As Alex continued to learn and become a more well rounded fly fisherman and guide, other opportunities started to present themselves. Soon Alex started to expand his guiding to other rivers and states. By the 2010's Alex Was guiding for Steelhead in both Alaska and Idaho (which he continues to guide presently). Alex rounded out his year with a few months in Belize where he taught fly tying, trained future guides and hosted trips to chase Permit, Tarpon and Bonefish. Today Alex lives in Fairbanks Alaska and is excited to offer a new venue and species to his guiding career.
"When I moved to Fairbanks I wasn't sure what to expect as far as the fly fishing was concerned. I have since been blown away by the beauty of the rivers and fish as well as the overwhelming interest by the community. It has been an amazing experience with uncrowded rivers and plentiful fish. I am looking forward to sharing this experience with everyone that comes to visit or who wants to learn more about this great sport."
